CHICAGO, Ill.- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program fell to the Bowling Green Falcons in four sets in their Friday afternoon matchup.
SFA jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first set which forced Bowling Green to take their first timeout. The Falcons came roaring back with a five-point run to cut the deficit to one, 10-9. Both teams traded mini three-point runs, but after SFA's second mini run they held a 18-14 lead capped off by a block from Camryn Hill and Jordan Henderson. Bowling Green tied the set up at 24 to force extras, but back-to-back blocks from Hill and Henderson secured a 26-24 first set victory for SFA.
After a 6-1 spurt in the early part of the second set, SFA took a slim 9-6 lead before BGSU responded with a four-point run to retake the lead, 10-9. Both teams continued to trade points before the 'Jacks went on a seven-point run to take a 21-16 lead. The Falcons took control at the end of the set by winning the last seven points to tie the match up with a 25-23 second set.
Luna França recorded her first ace as a Ladyjack to give SFA an 11-6 lead. The Falcons fought back and tied the set up at 18 and then took a two-point lead. An ace from Hill tied the set back up at 24 to send it to extras. A kill and a solo block from Avery Hobson secured a 26-24 third set victory for the Falcons.
The Falcons built off the momentum in the fourth by jumping out to a 11-6 lead. SFA cut eh deficit to one after a 6-2 spurt, 13-12. Both teams traded blows for the rest of the set, but with the 'Jacks backs against the wall SFA rattled off three straight points to make it 24-23. Bowling Green ended the match on a kill from Hobson with a 25-23 fourth set victory.
POSTGAME NOTES
• Bowling Green takes a 1-0 series lead.
• Camryn Hill led the 'Jacks with 10 kills, followed by Molly Craven and Katherine Holtman with nine.
• Cambry Saul recorded 19 assists followed by Jayden Flynn who had 17.

• Caroline Kahle led the back line with 16 digs.
• Jordan Henderson was a monster at the net with a new career high of nine blocks.
• Hill also tied her career high in blocks with six.
