SFA Falls to RV Indiana in the Final Match of the Loyola Invitational

CHICAGO, Ill.- The Stephen F. Austin Volleyball program fell to RV Indiana in their final match of the Loyola Invitational.
Indiana quickly jumped out to a 14-5 lead. SFA went on a four-point run thanks to kills from Katherine Holtman, Camryn Hill, Jordan Henderson and a block from Hill and Henderson, 14-9. Later in the set, the Ladyjacks went on a 4-1 spurt to get up to 15 points, but that was as far as they would get as Indiana secured a 25-15 first set victory.
SFA started out with a 5-3 lead in the second set. All of those points were kills by both teams. The Hoosiers then went on an 8-1 run to take an 11-6 lead and held a comfortable lead for the rest of the set. Indiana won the second set by a score of 25-14.
Indiana once again jumped out to a commanding 13-5 lead, but back-to-back kills from Holtman cut the deficit down slightly, 13-7. Later in the set, the 'Jacks went on a four-point spurt that included Zoe Gun's first ace as a Ladyjack, a kill from Kyanna Creecy, and capped off with a solo block from Kennedy Jones, 18-13. Indiana ended the third set on a 7-3 run to secure the sweep with a 25-16 third set victory.
POSTGAME NOTES
• Indiana ties the series against SFA at 1-1.
• Katherine Holtman recorded 11 kills, her seventh double-digit kill match of the season.
• Jayden Flynn led the offense with 16 assists, followed by Zoe Gun who recorded 11.
• Camryn Hill and Ilana de Assis tied for the team lead with seven digs.
• Kennedy Jones led the team with two blocks.
UP NEXT
SFA will return home for three matches next week, starting with former WAC foe Tarleton on Tuesday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m.
