Ladyjacks Fall to No. 6 TCU in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament

COLLEGE STATION, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program faced off against the No. 6 seeded TCU Horned Frogs in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
TCU jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the first set. Later in the set, the Horned Frogs went on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 17-5. TCU won the final two points to take a 25-8 first set victory.
The second set was tightly contested with SFA holding a three-point lead until TCU went on a 6-0 spurt to take their own three-point lead. Later in the set, the 'Jacks responded with a 6-0 run to bring up set point, 24-22. TCU scored the next four points to win the second set 26-24.
SFA rode the momentum of a close second set with back-to-back kills from Jayden Flynn and Katherine Holtman, 2-0. Both teams traded blows until TCU took a 12-9 lead off four straight kills. Late in the set, the Horned Frogs rattled off five straight points to set up match point. Ilana de Assis and Molly Cravens recorded back-to-back kills to stave off two match points, but TCU followed with a kill to win the match with a score of 25-20.
POSTGAME NOTES
• Ilana de Assis led the team with nine kills followed by Camryn Hill with eight kills.
• Jayden Flynn led the team with 11 assists followed by 10 from Zoe Gun.
• Izabella Ortiz and Jordan Henderson each recorded three blocks.
• Caroline Kahle held down the back line with 10 digs.
