
Ladyjacks Advance to the Semifinals with a Sweep over No. 8 Seeded Lions

Double-Doubles from seniors Camryn Hill and Ilana de Assis boost the ‘Jacks to the semifinals.
COMMERCE, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program began their conference tournament run against the No. 8 seeded East Texas A&M Lions.
The first set was tightly contested as neither team held more than a three-point lead until the Lions went on a four-point run to take a 22-19 lead late in the first set. ETAMU held a 24-20 lead before SFA went on an incredible five-point run to get the first set to extras, 25-24. A kill from Izabella Ortiz followed by an attack error from the Lions secured a 27-25 first set victory.
In the second set, both teams were very successful in siding out before SFA went on a 11-1 scoring run to take a commanding 16-7 lead. The 'Jacks continued to grow their lead and secured a 25-15 second set victory off a kill from Camryn Hill.
SFA took an early 9-5 lead off back-to-back kills from Hill and Ilana de Assis. Three straight kills from the 'Jacks gave them a 15-8 lead. ETAMU cut the deficit to three, 19-16 and then eventually cut the lead down to one, 21-20. Hill once again secured the final point 25-22 to send the Ladyjacks to the Semifinals.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA moves to a 3-0 series lead against ETAMU and has earned their second win against the Lions in Commerce this season.
• This was the 100th win of the senior class; Izabella Ortiz, Camryn Hill and Jayden Flynn.
• Camryn Hill and Ilana de Assis led the team with 15 kills they both added 11 and 20 digs respectively.
• Jayden Flynn led the team with 20 assists followed closely by Zoe Gun with 19.
• Kyanna Creecy led the net presence for SFA with four blocks followed by de Assis, Izabella Ortiz and Jordan Henderson with three each.
• Caroline Kahle was the third Ladyjack to record double digit digs with 11.

The 'Jacks will face the No. 4 seeded UIW Cardinals, tomorrow November 21 at 5:00 p.m. in The Fieldhouse on the campus of East Texas A&M. SFA will be looking to avenge their lone conference loss in the regular season against the Cardinals.
