Lumberjacks Drop Home Opener to Chippewas

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks lost their home opener to the Central Michigan Chippewas by a final score of 9-4.
Central Michigan got the scoring started early in the first inning with a three-run top of the first followed by two runs in the top of the second. The Chippewas pitching was able to hold the Lumberjacks scoreless until the fifth inning. Cole Hill singled up the middle to drive in two runs. Central Michigan kept the scoring consistent throughout the game scoring one run in the fourth, one in the sixth, and two in the seventh. The 'Jacks were able to push across two runs in the bottom of the ninth to bring the score to 9-4. Cody Fleischer tripled to center field driving in one run and later scoring to make it 9-4.
Jack James took the loss on the mound for the Lumberjacks and Adam Mrakitsch took the win for the Chippewas.
The Lumberjacks are back in action on Saturday February 17th as they will play the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders. First pitch is set for 2:00 pm.
