5/9/2026 5:05:00 PM | Baseball
SFA overcomes 4-1 deficit, wins for 27th time and finishes regular season above .500 for first time 2017
Jhett Creel doubled down the right field line with two outs to score two in the sixth inning to push the Jacks out front 6-5 and SFA supplied more run support in the ninth as Coby DeJesus tripled with one gone to plate a pair before scoring with two outs on an RBI single from the bat of Ethan Peña.
The final five runs backed the relief efforts of Kadin Munson and Brennan Greer who each made their second appearance of the series on Saturday. Munson worked the sixth and seventh allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts, while Greer handled the eighth and ninth allowing only a solo homer with three punchouts.
The Jacks opened scoring in the finale with Julian Swift plating a run on a double play groundout. Creel reached on an error that plated a run in the third and Peña doubled in two in the fourth to tie the game. UIW regained the lead in the bottom half.
Jonathan Valdez worked the game's first two frames in a starting role picking up a pair of strikeouts. Noah O'Farrell earned the win after a three-inning stint saw him scatter five hits and a walk and allow a single run before stranding two in the fourth.
