Five Jacks Earn Academic Honors from SLC, CSC

FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference announced the 2026 Baseball All-Academic Team and Student-Athlete of the Year Thursday morning. Stephen F. Austin had five student-athletes recognized on the league's list, while four of those players earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District plaudits.
Seniors Mark Henning, Jack James and Cody Templeton along with first-year Lumberjacks Jhett Creel and Brennan Greer were honored by the SLC for their classroom efforts. Henning, James, Templeton and Creel were also named to the CSC Academic All-District team with Creel advancing to CSC's Academic All-American ballot.
To be eligible for the SLC All-Academic team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA with at least one semester completed at the nominating institution and have competed in at least 50% of the team's events. For CSC inclusion, student athletes must carry a 3.5 GPA or better, while competing in 90 percent of the institution's games played or staring in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
