Jacks Head to Huntsville for Battle of the Piney Woods on the Diamond

SFA is looking to rebound after a 2-1 series loss to Nicholls, while SHSU is coming off a 2-1 series win over UTEP.
NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team will make the quick trip to Huntsville for a midweek clash against the Sam Houston Bearkats.
LAST TIME OUT
• Ellie Vance and Kaylee Paul each recorded two hits today.
• Jamie Varga recorded the lone RBI for the Jacks.
• Paul hit her second triple in back-to-back games.
SCOUTING SAM HOUSTON
• The Bearkats enter this midweek with a 16-10 record.
• Sophia Lundstrom leads the team with a .388 batting average and 33 hits.
• Bella Perez leads the Bearkats with 24 RBIs and is followed closely by Veronica Harrison who has 23.
• Sam Houston's pitching staff has a 3.71 ERA with Tiffany Sanchez leading the team with a 2.63 ERA.
• Sanchez and Amy Abke each have five wins this season and have pitched over 40 innings.
• Sanchez has recorded 45 strikeouts followed by 33 from Abke.
BOMBS AWAY
• The Jacks have hit 17 home runs this season.
• Malia Jones leads the team with seven.
• Ella Hill is second on the team with four, three of which she hit during the first day of the Roadrunner Classic.
• Kara Pride and Adelyn Becerra each have two while Lilly Bean and Kaylee Paul each have one.
PITCHING ON LOCKDOWN
• The staff for SFA holds a 2.88 ERA this season, led by Amelia Hatthorn who has a 1.85 ERA followed closely by Kai Hudson with a 1.89 ERA.
• Crimson Bryant is the strikeout queen with 61 on the season including 14 in her Lumberjack debut after transferring from UT Tyler. Bryant leads the team with 56.2 innings pitched.
• Amelia Hatthorn leads the Jacks with 15 appearances and a 3-1 record in 30.1 innings of work.
