Lumberjacks Sweep Islanders on Senior Day

A three-run blast from senior Adelyn Becerra powers SFA to a 6-4 win.
The Islanders got on the board in the first inning, 1-0. SFA responded in the bottom of the second with a triple from Malia Jones who then scored on a throwing error by the Islanders, 1-1. TAMU-CC added two more runs in the top of the third, 3-1. The Lumberjack offense exploded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single up the middle from Jamie Varga, 3-2. After that Ellie Vance smoked a single right back to the pitcher which scored Kylie Bishop, 3-3. After Vance and Varga advanced on a wild pitch, Adelyn Becerra crushed a three-run homerun to left field for her fifth blast of the season, 6-3. The Islanders scored one more run in the top of the sixth, but were shut down by senior Amelia Hatthorn in the seventh as she picked up her third save of the season.
POSTGAME NOTES
• Kaylee Paul led the team with three hits.
• Malia Jones and Ellie Vance each recorded two hits.
• Adelyn Becerra led the team with three RBIs, with Vance and Jamie Varga each adding an RBI.
• Kai Hudson picked up her sixth win of the season.
• Amelia Hatthorn recorded her third save of the season after pitching a shutout seventh inning.
UP NEXT
The Lumberjacks have secured the No. 7 seed and will head to Lake Charles for the SLC Tournament. SFA will play their first game against the No. 2 seeded McNeese Cowgirls at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30.
