Lumberjacks Battle Bears in Waco

WACO, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team headed over to Waco for a midweek matchup with the Baylor Bears.
Crimson Bryant earned the start in the circle against Cambree Creager for the Bears. Both pitchers were lights out in the first three innings as neither team recorded a run until the fourth. The Bears got on the board first with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, 1-0. After a scoreless fifth inning, Baylor was able to plate three in the sixth to take a 4-0 lead into the top of the seventh. SFA got one runner on in the seventh but were unable to bring across any runs.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA moves to 14-8 on the year entering conference play this weekend.
• Ellie Vance led the team with two hits and two stolen bases.
• Crimson Bryant pitched 5.1 innings allowed two runs and four strikeouts.
• Amelia Hatthorn and Kai Hudson came on in relief.
UP NEXT
The Jacks will head to Thibodaux for their SLC series opener against Nicholls on Friday, March 6 for a doubleheader at 4 and 6:30 p.m. and will finish up with a single game on Saturday, March 7 at 1:00 p.m.
