NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Softball team (20-19, 9-6 SLC) returns home for a midweek series against the visiting East Texas A&M University Lions (9-29, 5-10 SLC).
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The Lumberjacks have been on fire to start the month of April as they recorded a run-rule 8-0 win over Texas Southern to begin the month, before traveling to sister town Natchitoches this weekend and taking care of business against the Lady Demons as they recorded a three-game sweep over Northwestern State University. The Lumberjacks pitching shouldered the load in game one and two against the Lady Demons as they held the NSU offense to just three runs in the first two games of the series, before the SFA offense took center stage in the series finale as they slugged their way to a 10-6 win over the Lady Demons on Sunday afternoon. So far in April, the Lumberjacks have outscored their opponents 25-9 in four games and have recorded 39 hits in those same four games, including back-to-back games with double-digit knocks. SFA now returns home looking to improve on their 6-5 home record and keep their four-game win streak rolling.
Lions at a Glance:
The East Texas A&M University Lions hit the road following a six-game home stand as the Lions aim to snap a four-game losing skid on Tuesday. The Lions had a pair of hard-fought losses over their six-game home stand as they lost 8-7 games to both Northwestern State University as well as Nicholls, however, the Lions recorded consecutive wins over the Lady Demons to open their home stand. The Lions now aim to claim their first road win of the season and improve on their 9-29 overall record, before returning home this weekend to battle the Incarnate Word Cardinals.

Alexis Telford continues her workhorse role for the Lumberjacks in the circle as she appeared in all three games this weekend, totaling 12 innings pitched, while allowing just three earned runs and punching out six hitters, and picked up a pair of wins and a save in the process to improve her season record to 7-3 with one save.

Wright and Tapia both have eight home runs on the year, while Emma Rodrigues and Charli Anger have combined to hit 11 long balls of their own.
