Lumberjacks Celebrate Senior Night Against McNeese

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin softball team (26-26, 14-12 SLC) hosted the McNeese Cowgirls (36-18, 22-4 SLC) for a Senior Night doubleheader where the 'Jacks honored their nine seniors: Chloe Reneau, Brooke Gainous, Hope Lusk, Alexis Telford, Mikaelah Burkland, Camryn Milley, Kelby Robbins, Ellie Vance, and Sydney Blakeman.
Game 1:
McNeese jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first and tacked on another run in the top of the third, 2-0. In the bottom of the third, Jamie Varga drew a leadoff walk then Reneau reached on a fielder's choice which put a runner on first with two outs for Burkland. Burkland crushed an RBI double to left center to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. After two scoreless innings, the Cowgirls added on another run in the sixth before scoring three in the seventh to take a commanding 6-1 lead. The 'Jacks were unable to mount a comeback as they were sat down in order by the McNeese pitcher.

Game 2:
Game two features three and a half scoreless innings to start. SFA got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after Varga hit her eighth triple of the season and then scored off an RBI single from Reneau, 1-0. After Reneau stole second, Robbins smoked an RBI double to third base that scored Reneau, 2-0. McNeese cut the deficit to one in the top of the fifth, 2-1. The Cowgirls then took the lead off a three-run home run, 4-2. SFA responded with a Burkland home run to left field to make it 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh, but the 'Jacks were unable to get anyone else on base.
