SFA Loses Third Game Against UTRGV

EDINBURG, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (9-26, 2-16 SLC) lost the third game of their three-game series against the UTRGV Vaqueros (25-10, 16-5 SLC) this afternoon, 12-2.
Neither team scored in the first inning, but the Vaqueros scored two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead. UTRGV took a commanding lead one inning later, scoring five runs in the third to go up 7-0.
The Lumberjacks had a couple of chances to score in the next few innings, getting runners on base in the fourth and sixth innings, but were held off the scoreboard. In the bottom of the sixth, UTRGV scored two more runs to extend their lead to 9-0.
In the top of the seventh, the Lumberjacks cut the Vaquero's lead to 9-2 courtesy of RBI singles by Cermodrick Bland and Cooper Schneider. However, in the bottom of the seventh, UTRGV would score three runs and the ten-run rule would go into effect. The Lumberjacks would lose to the Vaqueros 12-2.
Garrett Landry (0-2) took the loss, while Victor Loa (5-1) was the winner.
