NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks Baseball Team (9-26, 2-16 SLC) returns home to host the Prairie View A&M University Panthers (8-26, 4-8 SWAC) in a Tuesday evening match up at Pilgrim's Park.
Lumberjacks at a Glance:
The Lumberjacks return home to Pilgrim's Park from Edinburg looking to get back in the win column against the Panthers following a three-game weekend series against the UTRGV Vaqueros. The SFA offense will look to continue their strong hitting within the fences of Pilgrim's Park as they have totaled eight games this season at home with double-digit hits, four home games with double-digit runs, nine home games with at least five walks, and 11 home games with multiple extra-base hits. The Lumberjacks hold a 6-9 home record this season, however, that record can be deceiving as five of those losses have come by three or less runs as SFA looks to continue their solid play at Pilgrim's Park on Tuesday evening.
Panthers at a Glance:
The Prairie View A&M Panthers open up a nine-game homestand on Tuesday evening in Nacogdoches as they will also be looking to get back in the win column. The Panthers are fresh off hosting the Grambling State Tigers in Prairie View for a weekend series and will now hit the road seeking their first road win of the season as they make stops in Nacogdoches, Beaumont, Houston, Austin, and Huntsville, Alabama over their next nine games.
Scouting Report-Lumberjacks:
The Josh Ibe train continues to chug along this season as he clubbed his 12th home run of the season over the weekend in Edinburg, tying Ryan Brome of Southeastern Louisiana for the most home runs by a Southland hitter this season. Ibe has recorded a hit in nine of his last 10 games as he continues to pace the Lumberjacks with his healthy .343/1.220/.771 slash line. Kevin Duran has formed a dynamic hitting duo with Ibe so far in April as Duran will carry a six-game hitting streak into Tuesday's game against the Panthers, as he recorded multiple hits in all three games against the Vaqueros.
Cody Templeton continues to be the workhorse for SFA's pitching staff as his 56.2 innings pitched this season is third most of any pitcher in the Southland, while allowing just three home runs all season, and striking out 36 so far in 2025. Meanwhile, Jonathan Valdez and Reid Boyett were solid out of the bullpen this weekend in Edinburg as Boyett threw four scoreless innings in the series opener against the Vaqueros, while Valdez pitched 4.1 innings and allowed just a single run while punching out four.
Scouting Report-Panthers:
Ahmar Donatto leads the Panthers offense with his .370 batting average, while Sonnier Moses has swiped a team-high 16 bases this season. Landon Williams has been the big bat in the Panthers lineup as he leads the team with six home runs and 27 driven in so far this year. Leonardo Bravo leads the Panthers pitching staff with his 3.25 ERA and 44.1 innings pitched.
Series:
Tuesday evening's midweek game will see these two teams meet for the eighth all-time meeting. SFA holds a 5-2 all-time series lead over the Panthers and hold a 3-0 home record against the Panthers. The Lumberjacks won the most recent meeting back in 2023 when they defeated the Panthers 11-7 in a 10-inning thriller on the road.

The Lumberjacks are back on the road this weekend as they travel to Thibodaux for a weekend series against the Nicholls State Colonels. The series kicks off on Thursday, April 17th with first pitch set for 6:00 p.m. CST.
