NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (10-26, 2-16 SLC) won their midweek game against the Prairie View A&M Panthers (8-26, 4-8 SWAC) this evening, 9-6.
Neither team generated much offense in the first inning, but the Panthers got on the board first in the top of the second, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead. After three innings, the Panthers held a 2-1 lead.
Neither team scored in the fourth, but Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 5-1. In the bottom half of the fifth, Cermodrick Bland drew a leadoff walk and then advanced to third on multiple wild pitches. After Josh Ibe walked and stole second, Mark Henning drove Bland in on an RBI groundout, cutting the Panther lead to 5-2.
After the Panthers scored another run to go up 6-2, the 'Jacks continued to fight back, scoring two runs on three walks and a hit by pitch to make the score 6-4.
