Ladyjacks Set to Host BOTPW Pink Out Thursday Night

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin women's basketball will host Sam Houston in the final Battle of the Piney Woods game as conference rivals. This game is a pink out as the teams Play 4 Kay to help raise awareness for those working to find a cure for breast cancer.

A Look at the Bearkats:
In their last game against Tarleton, Sam Houston overcame a nine-point deficit late in the third quarter to knock off Tarleton 58-57 at Johnson Coliseum. The Bearkats snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 12-12 overall and 8-6 in Western Athletic Conference play. Mikayla Woods scored a game-high 20 points, Tierney Coleman added 10 and Kaylee Jefferson, Sydnee Kemp and Madelyn Batista each chipped in seven.
The Bearkats are led by graduate guard Chyna Allen who has scored a total of 311 points and averages 13 points per game, followed by senior guard Madelyn Batista who has recorded 265 points and averages 11 per game. Sam Houston is coming off of two intense games with the comeback against the Texans and a thrilling double overtime loss to the Mavericks in Arlington.
A Look at the Ladyjacks:
The battle for first in the conference did not go the Ladyjacks way as the Thunderbirds won 67-59 last Saturday. Aiyana Johnson led the Ladyjacks in scoring, posting 22 points and shooting 10-17. Jordan Harrison was the second highest scorer for the Ladyjacks, posting 14 points. Avery Brittingham posted 10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.
SFA is looking to rebound with two of their final three games at home where they are 11-2 overall. The dynamic scoring duo of Johnson and Harrison have accounted for 706 points this season. Kurstyn Harden and Brittingham join Johnson and Harrison as the only other two Ladyjacks who have scored more than 200 points this season. Tyler McCliment-Call leads the attack from deep with 40 made three pointers, followed by Angel Scott with 36. Three other Ladyjacks have made more than twenty three-pointers; Harrison has 33, Kyla Deck and Destini Lombard have 27. The Ladyjacks are ranked first in the WAC in several categories including; scoring, field goal percentage, assists, assists per game, scoring margin, scoring defense, field goal percentage defense, and defensive rebounds.
