
SFA Wins Overtime Thriller Against No. 2 Seeded Lamar to Advance to SLC Title Game

Ashlyn Traylor-Walker scores the final six points in overtime to send Ladyjacks to SLC Championship Game for the second straight season.
LAKE CHARLES, La.- The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program faced off against No. 2 seeded Lamar for the second straight season in the SLC Tournament Semifinals.
After both offenses got off to a slow start, Lamar went on a 6-3 run before SFA responded with a 4-0 spurt to take a slim 7-6 lead with 3:52 left in the first quarter. Both teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter in a low scoring affair. A layup from Kaylinn Kemp with 34 seconds left sent SFA into the first quarter break with an 11-10 lead.
In the second quarter, Lamar got the lead back after two quick baskets, 14-11 with 8:22 left. SFA answered with a 5-2 run that was capped off by a record-breaking three-pointer from Harmanie Dominguez. That three was Dominguez's 91st of the season which broke the single season three-point record previously held by Tammara Marion during the 2011-12 season. The Cardinals responded in a big way with a 10-0 run to end the first half and take a seven-point lead into the locker room at halftime, 28-21.
Lamar began the third quarter on a 10-2 run to extend their lead to 15. The Ladyjacks responded immediately with an 11-2 run of their own powered by five points from Ashlyn Traylor-Walker and four from Kaylinn Kemp, 40-34 with 3:05 left. Both teams traded three-point mini runs to end the quarter and keep the Lamar lead at six points, 43-37.
Both teams traded blows to begin the fourth quarter. With 6:46 left in the game, SFA went on a 7-0 run which included five straight points from Key Roseby, 50-49 Lamar lead with 3:43 left in the game. Lamar made a layup to extend their lead to three, but a three from Dominguez tied the game at 52 and sent us to overtime.
Powered by the SFA faithful crowd, the Ladyjacks began overtime on a 6-2 run to take a 58-54 lead with 2:12 left in overtime. Lamar responded with a three-pointer to cut the SFA lead to one, 58-57. Traylor-Walker powered the Ladyjacks to a 64-59 overtime win as she scored the final six points of the game to send SFA to its second straight SLC Tournament Championship Game.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA defeats No. 2 seeded Lamar for the second season in a row to advance to the SLC Championship Game.
• Kaylinn Kemp led the team with 17 points and shot 90.0 percent from the free throw line (9-10).
• Ashlyn Traylor-Walker scored 16 points including the final six of the game and went 5-6 from the free throw line.
• Key Roseby recorded 10 points for her 26th game with at least 10 points this season.
• Myka Perry and Aziyah Farrier led the team with seven boards.
• Harmanie Dominguez hit two three-pointers which broke the single season three-point record that was held by Tammara Marion.
• Aziyah Farrier's three blocks broke the SFA freshman record for blocks and moved her into a tie for the fifth most blocks in a single season in SFA history with Charity Egenti.
