LEADOFF HITS
• Each of the last four non-conference games the Stephen F. • Tuesday night's showdown with the Golden Lions represents the 'Jacks' second home game in the month of April thus far. Following a 7-4 triumph over UT Arlington on Wednesday, April 4, SFA played seven-straight road games and finished that stretch with a 3-4 record.
• SFA will give the ball to freshman right-hander Jordan Powell who makes his third start of 2018. The Montgomery, Texas, product has gone 2-0 with a 6.48 ERA in 16.2 innings pitched.
• In the most recent version of the Southland Conference standings, the 'Jacks just one game behind Nicholls for eighth place in the league standings. Both New Orleans (17-20, 7-11 Southland) and Lamar (10-26, 6-12 Southland) are ahead of SFA in the league standings but both have played three more league games than SFA. The top eight teams at the conclusion of the regular season will advance to the 2018 Southland Conference Tournament in Sugar Land, Texas, and the 'Jacks have 15 league games remaining on their 2018 schedule.
• When they match up against the Golden Lions Tuesday evening, it will be the sixth game against a SWAC adversary for the 'Jacks in 2018. SFA has gone 4-1 against SWAC opposition this season and is a perfect 4-0 at home against foes from that league.
• Junior outfielder Nick Daley leads the Southland Conference and ranks 22nd nationally with 18 stolen bases this season. That stolen base total gives the Gilbert, Ariz., product the sixth-highest single-season stolen base total in SFA history.
• One of the most often-used relief pitchers in the nation wears an SFA uniform. Junior left-hander Cody Adams has appeared in 21 of the 'Jacks' 25 games this season, giving him the second-highest number of appearances by any pitcher in the Southland Conference. Those 21 appearances are also the ninth-most in the nation and the Seymour, Texas, product has a 1-0 record with a 6.31 ERA to show for his efforts.
• In his debut season as a collegiate baseball player, not only does freshman Jared Martin lead the 'Jacks in a multitude of offensive categories including batting average (.316), hits (42), runs scored (33), RBI (28), doubles (12) and slugging percentage (.511), he owns the nation's 16th-longest reached base streak. The Frisco, Texas, product has reached base safely in 33 consecutive games which is the longest active streak by any Southland Conference player.
• Senior Josh Evans has belted a team-high six homers for the 'Jacks this season - the fifth-highest total among all Southland Conference players. The Ponca City, Okla., product is now just two long balls away from entering SFA's top ten and has helped the 'Jacks' tater total rise to 26 - the third-most among all Southland Conference teams.
• Through the last 10 games, Evans has served as the 'Jacks' best hitter, putting up a slash line of .357/.364/.524 in that span. Evans' 15 hits and eight RBI through that 10-game span also represent team-highs.
• SFA's pitching staff has started to right the ship through the past 10 games, too. The 'Jacks' ERA of 4.76 through the last 10 is nearly one-and-a-half runs lower than their season ERA of 6.17 and over the last 10 SFA arms have struck out 77 while walking only 48.
• Sunday afternoon in Huntsville, Texas, senior Trevor Kiminski turned in the longest outing by an SFA starting pitcher in nearly a full calendar year. The Brooklyn Park, Minn., product became the first Lumberjack arm to work more than 5.1 innings in 2018, tossing 6.1 frames of one-run baseball to pick up his second win of the season.
