Ladyjacks Bounce Back At New Mexico State

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks soccer team bounced back from a rare home loss last weekend with an impressive 2-0 victory over Western Athletic Conference member New Mexico State Friday evening.
"We did some really good things today against a committed and organized New Mexico State team," SFA head coach Wally Crittenden said. "We are getting better every game and are executing our schemes cleaner with a variety of personnel. No doubt, the options we have regarding personnel is very exciting at the moment. Our girls will always remain hungry to improve but I am very proud of the team's preparation and competitive spirit thus far. Now we begin the process of recovery and prepare for a good UTEP team on Sunday,"
The Ladyjacks (3-1-1) outshot the Aggies (2-3-0) in the first ever meeting 11-8 and 8-5 shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Lacey Lee (2-0-0) returned to the starting lineup for the first time since the season opener at Rice and earned the victory at net by making three saves before giving way to Morgan Glick. The combined shutout was SFA's fourth of the season.
SFA wasted no time getting on the scoreboard Friday, scoring in the fifth minute on Zuri Prince's second goal of the season. The game-winner, Prince's sixth of her career, came off of a corner kick and was assisted by senior Brenda Salazar.
The Ladyjacks put the match away for all intensive purposes later in the second half when in the 60th minute, senior Megan Wasiak scored her first goal of the season from out in front of the net by Aggies' goalkeeper Jessica Schutter.
The scoring strike was Wasiak's fourth of her career and the first since Oct. 28, 2011 in a victory over Sam Houston State.
SFA will be back in action this Sunday when they travel to El Paso to face UTEP at 1 p.m.
