Oberholtzer tallies second goal of season in 4-1 loss
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin (1-2-0) faced off against the University of Tulsa (2-0-0), ending with a 4-1 defeat at the Chopping Block on Thursday. Despite the loss, the Ladyjacks managed to find the net once in the second half.
The match began with SFA establishing its defensive presence early, as the sophomore keeper Brandie Musser made several key saves, including a notable stop against Aniya Facen's bottom-center shot at 6:13. Despite Musser's efforts, SFA faced a challenging first half as Tulsa capitalized on its opportunities. Kaylyn Simmons put Tulsa on the board with a goal at 13:25, and later, Lauren McIntyre extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal assisted by Simmons and Parker McGraw at 27:03. The half concluded with the Ladyjacks trailing 2-0.
In the second period, SFA's Savanna Oberholtzer scored a pivotal goal at 50:19, notching her second goal of the season, assisted by Kailey Stringfellow and BB Bonzheim, narrowing Tulsa's lead to 2-1. As SFA began generating offensive momentum before Tulsa responded with a goal from Lauren McIntyre at 73:19, assisted by Emma Stacey and Aniya Facen, expanding its advantage to 3-1. Tulsa further extended its lead with Presley Boyd's goal at 77:36, assisted by Kaylyn Simmons, making the score 4-1. The match concluded with Tulsa securing the 4-1 victory.
