Lumberjacks Beat Rams Behind Henning's Five RBI

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Lumberjacks (6-7, 1-2) defeated the Huston-Tillotson Rams (7-15, 2-4) this afternoon, 10-3.
The game was scoreless through the first two innings, as Lumberjacks starter Garrett Landry did not allow a hit and struck out three Rams in the first two innings. In the third, the Lumberjacks were able to break the tie. After Mark Henning worked a one-out walk, Jackson Benattar would lace a double to left-center to score Henning, making it 1-0 'Jacks. In the top of the fourth, The Rams were able to tie the score at 1.
In the fifth, Huston-Tillotson would take their first lead of the game courtesy of a solo home run by Noah Alvarez to put the Rams up, 2-1. The Lumberjacks quickly responded in the bottom of the sixth, as doubles by Ben Hoshizaki and Josh Ibe and a single by Mark Henning would bring in five runs to put SFA up 6-2.
In the bottom of the seventh, the 'Jacks would tack on even more. After an RBI single by Josh Ibe, Mark Henning would come up with the bases loaded. Henning would narrowly miss a grand slam, as he would smoke a ball off the center field wall for a bases-clearing triple, making the score 10-2 in favor of the Lumberjacks.
In the top of the eighth, the Rams would score one to make the score 10-3, but the Lumberjacks bullpen didn't allow another run as SFA would win the game, 10-3.
Reid Bowyer (2-0) won his second game of the year, and DiAngello DelValle (0-1) took the loss.
