Lumberjacks Fall to Huskies in Doubleheader Nightcap

Following a scoreless first from both sides, SFA would load the bases in the top of the second and a Ben Hoshizaki walk allowed Julian Swift to score and give SFA an early 1-0 lead. The 'Jacks added on another run in the top of the third as Dante Turgeon would lace a double into left field to score Julian Swift yet again and give SFA a 2-0 lead after three full innings of play.
The fourth inning saw the SFA bats stay hot as a Ben Hoshizaki RBI single that scored Isaiah Garnica put SFA ahead 3-0. SFA would not be done in the top of the fourth, however, as Josh Ibe would launch a two-run bomb to left-center for his 10th long ball of the season that staked SFA to a 5-0 lead. The Huskies would respond with a pair of runs in the home half of the fourth, however, SFA still held a 5-2 lead after four full innings of play.
Ben Hoshizaki kept the RBIs coming in the top of the fifth as he would tally his third and fourth RBIs of the game on a two-run single to center to score both Dante Turgeon and Julian Swift to regain the lead for SFA at 7-2. Ethan Adkisson would come around to score another Lumberjack run on a throwing error and SFA held an 8-2 lead. HCU would add a run in the bottom of the fifth, but SFA still led 8-3 after five full innings of play.
The Huskies would add on three runs in the bottom of the sixth, one run in the seventh, and five runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 12-8 lead over SFA. The Lumberjacks were unable to find the equalizing runs in the top of the ninth and eventually fell 12-8 in the nightcap game of the doubleheader.
Nick Ferazzi (1-0) was credited with the win for the Huskies, while Elian Balmaceda (0-4) took the loss for SFA.
