‘Jacks Take Game Two in Opening SLC Series Against Privateers

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks took game two of their Southland Conference opening series today with a dominant win over the University of New Orleans, 14-4.
The Lumberjacks struck early with a seven-run first inning against New Orleans, featuring a three-run home run by Dante Turgeon to open the scoring. Cermodrick Bland capped off the inning with a two-RBI single to center field to put the 'Jacks up big, 7-0.
New Orleans was able to chip away at the lead in the top of the second, scoring two, but the Lumberjacks quickly responded. In the third inning, SFA tacked on three more runs, starting with a one-run single by Josh Ibe. Shortly after, Turgeon hit his second home run of the game to deep center to bring in two more runs for the 'Jacks as SFA went up 10-2.
In the fifth, the 'Jacks added four more runs, highlighted by Josh Ibe's third home run of the year, a two-run homer. RBI's by Kevin Duran, and Ethan Adkisson made the score 14-4 in favor of the Lumberjacks.
Dylan Mulcahy dominated on the mound with five innings pitched, five strikeouts, and two earned runs for the 'Jacks, as he notched his first win of the year.
The game ended in the seventh, courtesy of the ten-run rule.
Mulcahy (1-0) was credited with the win, and Zach Longshore (0-2) took the loss.
