Lumberjacks Fall to No. 11 Longhorns

Texas scored three runs in the bottom of the first and that was all they would need to win this one. UT extended their lead to 9-0 going into the third inning. In the top of the third, Hope Lusk ran out a bunt and was safe at first, then Sydney Carithers reached on a fielder's choice. Middlebrook stepped up to the plate with a runner on first and two outs. She worked it to a full count, made contact with a pitch that hung over the plate and blasted it over the wall in left center to score the lone two runs for the 'Jacks. Texas added four more in the bottom of the fourth, and the game ended when SFA was unable to score in the top of the fifth.
Middlebrook and Lusk recorded the only hits in the game. Middlebrook recorded two RBIs which is her third multi-RBI game of the season. Brooke Gainous recorded the loss after pitching 1.1. innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs (four earned).
The Lumberjacks will have a quick turnaround as the Redhawks of Seattle University come to Nacogdoches for the second conference series. The first game will be Friday, March 24th at 5:00 p.m.
