NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball program takes on the UT-Arlington Mavericks this Saturday as they look for their fourth straight win.
Ladyjacks Statistical Analysis
Stephen F. Austin is solidifying themselves as one of the top three women's basketball teams in the conference, still remaining only one of three teams with one loss or less. Although being third in the WAC, they have the best overall record in the conference.
One of the advantages the Ladyjacks have is their number of sharp shooters from deep. There are currently five players who have a three-point percentage of at least 38% all with more than 45 attempts. The team percentage equals out to 36.7% beyond the arc, which is first in the conference and 19th in the nation.
Aiyana Johnson has now scored 20 points in two out of the last three games and has scored double-digits in all but three games this year. It seems pretty obvious that if Johnson dominates the paint like she usually does, the Ladyjacks have a good shot of coming away with the win.
A Look at the Mavericks
The Mavericks come into Nacogdoches with a 9-10 overall record and a 3-4 record against the WAC. SFA is their final stop of a three-game road trip and have won their previous two matches at Stephenville (Tarleton) and Edinburg (UTRGV).
Starr Jacobs is the shining star for the Mavericks this season. She leads the team in field goal percentage at 53.1% (121 for 228), most free throw attempts with 108, 16.5 points per game, 129 total rebounds, and 52 steals. Watch for her to be a dominate force in the paint as she has scored 14 or more points in her last nine games.
Kayla White is the one to watch from the three-point line as she leads the team with a 37.8% three-point percentage. With White averaging 13.1 points per game, it seems the key to coming away with the win is keeping the ball out of White and Jacobs' hands.
SFA vs UTA History
Since their first matchup in January 2003, the Mavericks have gotten the upper hand more than the Ladyjacks as they lead the series at 15-8.
Although history between the two program shows UTA as the better team, SFA has won five out of the last eight matchups since 2011.
The Ladyjacks have a 4-6 record when playing the Mavericks at home.

The next possession down the floor, Avery Brittingham found Mayfield downlow, and the lead advanced to 28-15. Visscher caught the ball on the wing during the same series of possessions, drove to her left for a bucket at the rim, and made it 30-21 Ladyjacks at the 3:52 media timeout. A Visscher layup out of the timeout once again gave SFA a double-digit lead. As time expired in the 2nd quarter, Nugent pushed the ball up the court to Visscher, then over to Banfield for a corner 3-pointer. The Ladyjacks led 37-26 at the break.
THIRD + FOURTH QUARTER (SFA led, 60-42 at the End of 3, Final 79-57):
