NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Lumberjacks (19-28, 16-19 SLC) played its final home game of the season on Sunday at Jaycees Field, defeating the Northwestern State Demons, 7-2. Today was exhilarating due to the 3-1 series victory, yet an emotional day as Pedro Cuellar, Joseph Sgambelluri, Sean Moore, Jeremy Rodriguez, Jacob Stobart, Jordan Monacy and Skylar Black were honored during the Senior Day festivities.
"With all of the emotions on Senior Day, I thought we handled it well and played an all-around balanced game," said Head Coach Johnny Cardenas. "Pedro [Cuellar] was un-hittable on the mound and his outing set us up early to have a chance to win."
SERIES: SFA, 3-1

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lumberjacks did not hesitate when it came to getting the bats rolling early. In the bottom of the first, Clayton Loranger's RBI double down the right field line cleared Cameron Crawford (1B RC) for the first run of the game, soon to be followed by Sean Moore's base hit to the NSU shortstop, where he was able to advance on the throw and bring around Loranger and Skylar Black (HBP) to give the 'Jacks a 3-0 advantage in the first inning.
A grand-slam from Skylar Black tacked on four more runs to give the home team a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
The Demons did not connect on a single hit since the first inning until the top of the sixth, leaving three runners stranded in their half of the inning. NSU stranded six total runners in the ballgame.
NSU's Jeffrey Elkins (T-7) and Tyler Smith (T-9) homered in the final stages of the game, but not enough to challenge the deficit.

The Lumberjacks will face the Abilene Christian Wildcats on the road this weekend for its final SLC series of the year.
