SFA finishes spring season unbeaten in five contests (4-0-1)
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The SFA Soccer team continued its torrid stretch of play in the spring season on Sunday with a tidy 2-0 victory over Louisiana Tech at SFA Soccer Field. The victory in SFA's final spring match closes out an unbeaten stretch through five contests in the spring slate and marks their fourth clean sheet in five games.
"I thought we came out with energy and excitement to play in our last game of the spring season", said SFA head coach Wally Crittenden. "It's been a long spring, it's certainly been a grind and so our players were ready to get after it today. Overall I thought our passion and energy was good, our in-game learning was good and we shape-shifted very well. "
Sabrina Segovia got the Ladyjacks on the board early in the first half, scoring the game's golden goal 15 minutes into the contest. A ball played in by Katherine Shoffner and kept alive by Carli Arthurs set up Segovia's low, shot past the keeper from the center of the box.
Carrying that 1-0 lead into the halftime break, the Ladyjacks wasted little time doubled up in the second half, as Katelyn Termini netted her fifth goal of the spring season with a 15-yard strike four minutes into the stanza. Kenady Carlile assisted on the goal, slotting a short pass back to a waiting Termini which she fired into the far side of the net.
A combination of great defense, possession and saves from Allyson Halliday kept the clean sheet intact the rest of the way. Halliday played the entire second half in relief of Madeline Talbot, who shut out the visitors in the first half.
SFA built up a 17-7 edge in shots in the contest, contributing to a 72-17 edge during the spring slate. SFA also ends with an 11-1 goal advantage over the five-march schedule.
