LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Stephen F. Austin women's basketball team scored early and often inside the H&HPE Center on Wednesday night, ultimately routing McNeese by a 97-48 score. With the win, SFA improves to 20-3 overall and 11-0 in Southland Conference play. The Ladyjacks cemented their 33rd 20-win season in program history and 12th straight victory overall thanks to four 20-point quarters.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Pulling away early in the contest, SFA scored seemingly at will inside against the Cowgirls porous interior defense, racking up a double-digit lead at the end of the first quarter. The 'Jacks shot 11-17 (64.7 percent) from the field in the frame and would lead 25-14 heading into the second quarter.
Things got no better for McNeese in the second quarter, as the Ladyjacks converted on 11 of their first 12 shot attempts to blow the contest open. A 30-7 run spanning over nine minutes of gameplay opened the lead up to 54-21 with only a minute left to play in the quarter, taking a 54-23 lead into the locker room.
Continuing to create distance through highly-accurate shooting, the Ladyjacks would outscore the hosts 43-25 in the second half thanks to a pair of 20-point quarters. By the time the final horn rang, SFA had led for 99 percent of the contest and stretched its lead to as many as 50 points.
OF NOTE
• SFA's field goal percentage of 69.6 was the second-highest total in any single game at the NCAA D1 level this season. Notre Dame's 69.8 percent outburst over Western Kentucky on Dec. 19 is the only better shooting performance this season.
• SFA's shooting percentage of 69.7 from the field in the game was a season-high for the Ladyjacks, easily eclipsing their already impressive season best of 60 percent, set against Sam Houston State.
• SFA became the first Southland Conference team and 17thin all of NCAA Division I basketball to reach the 20-win plateau. Only ten teams have exceeded 20 wins thus far this season.
• Tonight's victory also clinches SFA's 33rd 20-win season in 50 years of program history and third consecutive 20-win season.
• SFA had averaged just over 17 assists per game this season heading into Wednesday's contest. The Ladyjacks notched that number in just one half of action on Wednesday, assisting on 17 of 23 made shots in the half. By game's end, SFA had assisted on a season-high 30 field goals (out of 39 total made).
• By clinching its 20thvictory of the season tonight, the 18-19 squad is the fastest group to reach to the plateau in nearly two decades. 18 seasons have passed since the 2000-01 squad under Royce Chadwick reached 20 wins earlier than this year's squad (Feb. 8).
• The Ladyjacks connected on 15 total threes in the contest, one short of the season-high 16 made treys set against Northwestern State earlier this season and two short of the program record of 17, set in the WNIT game at George Mason last season.
UP NEXT
SFA now turns its attention Northwestern State and a rivalry rematch with the Lady Demons on Saturday. SFA defeated Northwestern State at home earlier this season, 84-56.
