THE FIRST SERVE
• Through the past four seasons, two teams have been responsible for winning each of the four Southland Conference regular season titles - SFA and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Saturday afternoon inside Shelton Gym, those two high-powered league adversaries are set to do battle once again with the former owning the nation's longest active winning streak (13 matches). At 1:00 p.m., the Ladyjacks and Islanders will serve it up inside one of the land's nosiest venues and every point of the league match will be broadcast nationwide on ESPN3 and the ESPN app. The knowledgeable duo of Greg Miller and Brittany Castledine are set to narrate the 20th all-time meeting between the two teams.
• Just two teams - SFA and Abilene Christian - have not suffered a Southland Conference setback thus far in 2018. As of this writing, the Ladyjacks have racked up more wins than any other NCAA Division I volleyball team in the nation thus far (16) and are tied with top-ranked BYU, seventh-ranked Illinois and eighth-ranked Pittsburgh for the nation's longest active winning streak (13 matches).
• The Ladyjacks' current 13-match winning streak is the eighth-longest in the history of the program and the lengthiest since the 2014 edition of the squad reeled off 17 consecutive triumphs en route to the Southland Conference regular season title.
• SFA leads the Southland Conference in six statistical categories including blocks per set (2.45), hitting percentage (.251), kills per set (13.52), winning percentage (.889), assists (784) and kills (852). As of this writing, the Ladyjacks' block total of 154.5 is the ninth-highest in all of NCAA Division I volleyball while the team's kill total the eighth-highest in the nation.
• Junior middle blocker Danae Daron leads ranks second in the Southland and 32nd nationally with 68 total blocks. Her blocks per set average of 1.13 leads SFA and is the fourth-highest among all Southland Conference players.
• As a team, SFA is averaging 3.10 blocks per set through its three Southland Conference matches. Senior outside hitter Haley Coleman has been on a tear in Southland tilts, too, putting down an average of 4.00 kills per set. She's one of four players in the league who are averaging four or more kills per set in conference play. Coleman's 185 terminations are the third-highest total in the Southland while her 219.5 total points scored is the second-highest sum in the league.
LAST TIME OUT
• What started out as a one-sided affair morphed into a hotly contested Southland Conference battle between SFA and Houston Baptist Thursday evening inside Shelton Gym, but the Ladyjacks gutted out a dramatic 3-1 victory over the upstart Huskies to stay perfect in Southland play.
• Senior outside hitter Haley Coleman pounded down a career-high 19 terminations - the most by any SFA player this season - and finished off her double-double effort by scooping up 16 digs. The Rockwall, Texas, product was one of three Ladyjacks who finished with double-doubles with senior outside hitter Peyton Redmond and senior setter McKenzie Brewer also on that list.
• Redmond submitted 12 kills and 15 digs, but it was her match-sealing solo block on an attack attempt by Houston Baptist's Megan Patillo that sewed up SFA's win. Brewer contributed 16 assists and 11 digs in order to keep the Huskies in check.
• SFA trailed 17-11, 19-14, 22-17 and 24-21 in the fourth, but still found a way to win. Coleman and Daron turned in kills during the team's 6-1 run to end the match and a trio of unforced attack errors by the Huskies aided the Ladyjacks as well.
• In desperate need of a third attacker, SFA turned to junior outside hitter Xariah Williams. The Arlington, Texas, product stepped in for the final two sets of action and terminated eight times while finishing with an attack percentage of .412. Those eight kills were one away from her season high.
• Freshman libero Sabrina Monaco turned in 18 digs which equaled her career high.

• Knocked out of shrinking ranks of the Southland Conference teams who have not dropped a league match with a 3-1 setback at Central Arkansas Thursday night, the Islanders undoubtedly have their sights set on a return to the win column when they head inside Shelton Gym Saturday afternoon.
• Third-year head coach Steve Green is the only Southland Conference coach who has a winning record against SFA and the Islanders' bench boss laid out a grueling non-conference schedule for his young squad that featured three matchups against ACC opposition and another three against SEC adversaries.
• An early candidate for Southland Conference Freshman of the Year, Rachel Young is leading the Islanders' offense with a kills per set average of 2.26. Her hitting percentage of .323 is another team-best figure and ranks third among all Southland Conference players.
• In addition to Young, the Islanders have been relying on steady contributions from Madison Green (2.15 kills/set, .253 attack percentage), Chloe Simon (2.09 kills/set, .112 attack percentage) and Sam Dumity (1.96 kills/set, .176 attack percentage) to get the job done.
• Through the Islanders' three league matches, Simon has been leading the way by pounding in 3.10 kills per frame. Young, however, has been the most accurate as she is hitting an impressive .485 through the team's three Southland matches. The freshman has committed only two hitting errors in that stretch and is adding 1.80 kills per set.
• Green doubles as the team's setter and passes out 6.44 assists per frame while also serving as the squad's most dangerous server. The junior has driven down 19 of the team's 63 service aces and has split time setting up the Islanders' offense with sophomore Mackenzie Coates. For her part, Coates dishes out an average of 4.77 helpers per frame.
• Sophomore libero Jenna Krenek is one of three Islanders with 100 or more digs and her per set average of 3.64 leads the team. In terms of front row defense, it's Dumity who leads the way with 0.55 blocks per set (six solo, 21 assisted).
