SFA Loses Game Two Against SLU

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (7-12, 2-6) dropped game two against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions (15-3, 5-0) this afternoon, 16-3.

Lumberjacks starter Elian Balmaceda started this game solid, not allowing any runs in the first two innings. Unfortunately, in the third inning, the Lions broke through with back-to-back home runs to go up 2-0. The Lions hit solo home runs in the fourth and the fifth innings and tacked on one more run in the sixth to go up 5-0.

In the top of the seventh, the Lions broke it open, scoring five runs on six hits, making it 10-0 in favor of the Lions. However, the 'Jacks would not go down without a fight, as they scored three runs in the bottom of the inning. After Ethan Adkisson led off the inning with a double to left-center, Ben Hoshizaki would bring him home with a sac fly. A couple of batters later, Dante Turgeon would single to shortstop with the bases loaded, and a throwing error by the shortstop would bring home two more runs for the Lumberjacks, making it 10-3.

Unfortunately, SLU would score another six runs in the top of the eighth, going up 16-3. The Lumberjacks would not score another run, and the ten-run rule would go into effect.

Elian Balmaceda (0-3) was the losing pitcher, while Lakin Polk (3-0) recorded the win.
