‘Jacks Drop Two at ETAMU Leadoff

COMMERCE, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (1-3) faced off against South Dakota State (3-0) and South Dakota (2-1) in day two of the ETAMU Leadoff.
Game 1:
Alexis Telford drew the start in the circle for SFA. Gabby Coffey got the scoring started in the second inning against the Jackrabbits with a solo home run to left center, 1-0. Later in the inning, Kaylee Paul continued her hot hitting streak with a single up the middle that drove in Chloe Reneau, 2-0.
SDSU scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead. The Jackrabbits added another run in the bottom of the fourth and the sixth, 6-2. SFA tried to mount a comeback in seventh as Ellie Vance hit an RBI single up the middle to bring in Paul, but the 'Jacks fell short 6-3.

Game 2:
Brooke Gainous drew the start in the second game of the day for the 'Jacks as they face the Coyotes of South Dakota. SD scored three runs off of three hits in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. The Coyotes tacked on another run in the fifth and the sixth, 5-0.
The Lumberjacks got their first run on the board in the sixth inning after a groundout from Reneau scored Mikaelah Burkland, 5-1. SFA added on two more in the seventh when Burkland singled through the right side to score Camryn Milley and Lainee Ballin, 5-3. However, it was too little too late for the 'Jacks as the comeback falls short, 5-3.
