'Jacks Fall to Lopes in the First Game of Day 2

The Lopes jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and did not look back. SFA scored their first run in the top of the third off of a Gaby Garcia single which scored Camryn Middlebrook, 4-1. Grand Canyon then added five more runs in the bottom of the third, 9-1. The 'Jacks recorded another RBI single off the bat of Sydney Carithers in the top of the fourth which scored Lexi Benson, 9-2. GCU added another five runs in the bottom of the fourth, 14-2. Middlebrook tacked on another run in the top of the fifth with a solo homer to center field, 14-3.
Middlebrook led the team with two hits, two runs, and one RBI. Garcia and Carithers each recorded a hit and an RBI in the game. Brooke Gainous recorded the loss after giving up three hits and four runs.
SFA heads to the elimination bracket and faces California Baptist later today at 6:00 p.m. central time.
