Maddy Bourque Notches 2,000th Career Assist as Ladyjacks Sweep the 'Cats

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Abilene Christian 3-0 Saturday afternoon to stay undefeated in WAC play and extend their home win streak to 26.
The SFA offense came out on fire in the first set as the 'Jacks jumped out to a 7-2 lead. ACU had a four-point run which cut the lead down to one, 8-7. SFA countered with a five-point spurt of their own to extend their lead to 16-10. The Ladyjacks never lost the lead in the first set and cruised to a 25-18 first set victory. ACU took their first lead of the match in the second set, but it was short lived as the 'Jacks had a six-point run to extend their lead to 7-3. SFA had a three-point mini-run and then a four-point run to grow the lead to 11 points, 21-11. SFA won the second set by a score of 25-14. In the third set the Ladyjack offense continued to fire on all cylinders as they took an 11-6 lead early and eventually grew it to a 17-8 lead after a four-point run. SFA won the final set by a score of 25-19 to secure their seventh conference sweep of the season.
SFA led ACU in points (54-38), kills (39-31), aces (9-5), blocks (6-2), assists (33-27), digs (45-38) and hitting percentage (.372-.168). The dynamic duo of Ielan Bradley and Tanishua Joseph once again led the offense for the 'Jacks with each of them recording nine kills. Jayden Flynn led the team with 18 assists and Maddy Bourque followed with 12. Bourque's second to last assist in the game was her 2,000th career assist. She is the eight Ladyjack in SFA history to achieve this career milestone. Bourque also recorded four aces which is a new season high. Izabella Ortiz led the team with four blocks against ACU. Haley Hoang led the team with 15 digs, followed by Ariana Pagan who recorded 14.
The Ladyjacks will begin a four-game road trip at Utah Tech on Thursday, October 19th at 7:00 p.m. central time.
