NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Stephen F. Austin defeated Loyola Chicago 3-1 (28-26, 21-25, 25-22, 25-18) on Thursday. The Ladyjacks hit .306 in the third set and .324 in the fourth, including a fourth set stretch that turned a 2-1 deficit into a 6-3 lead.
The Ladyjacks tied the first set up at 6 on Caroline Kahle's kill from Aniston Collins and later tied it again at 11-11 on a block by Kyanna Creecy and Katherine Holtman. The teams continued trading small pushes, with the Ladyjacks scoring four straight points — Molly Cravens' kill, a Ramblers attack error, Jordan Henderson's block and Madi Zorn's ace — to take a 20-18 lead. The Ladyjacks moved ahead 24-22 on Zorn's kill and Cambry Saul's ace. After the teams traded points to 26-26, Kahle's kill put SFA back in front, and a Nguyen attack error ended the set at 28-26.
The Ladyjacks built an early 4-1 lead in the second set, with Holtman recording a kill and joining Henderson on a block during the opening stretch. The Ladyjacks pulled within 16-15 on a Holtman kill and a block by Avery Koonsen and Creecy. After the Ladyjacks cut a 23-18 deficit to 23-21 with a Kahle kill, a Ramblers attack error, and a block by Henderson and Holtman. That block forced Loyola Chicago to call a timeout before the Ramblers closed the set 25-21.
The Ladyjacks built a 5-0 lead in the third set as Saul served four straight points after Henderson's opening kill, with Koonsen putting down three kills and Holtman adding another during the stretch. The Ladyjacks still led 10-3 after kills by Cravens and a happy birthday kill from Henderson. A Cravens-Creecy block, Kahle kills, and two Ramblers errors helped the Ladyjacks move ahead 21-15, and Erin Goodson's first career ace made it 23-17 before Koonsen's kill brought set point at 24-18. The Ramblers answered with four straight points before Nguyen's attack error closed the Ladyjacks' 25-22 set win.

The Ladyjacks kept the margin moving from there, getting a Holtman kill and a Holtman-Creecy block for an 8-4 lead before kills from Kahle and Holtman helped push the set to 13-8. The Ladyjacks stretched the advantage to 19-12 with a Creecy kill, a Holtman ace, and a Ramblers attack error, and Cravens added multiple kills as the Ladyjacks reached 21-14. The Ramblers scored three straight points to get to 22-18, but Kahle stopped the run with a kill, and the Ladyjacks closed the set 25-18 on a Rambler attack error and Kahle's service ace.
