SFA Drops Game with UT Arlington 10-4 in 10 Innings

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The SFA 'Jacks fell 10-4 in a 10-inning matchup to the UT Arlington Mavericks Sunday to close out the SFA Baseball Tournament.
Senior Jacob Stobart (0-1) got the ball to start for SFA (3-4) and took the loss. Freshman Benny Emmons was a bright spot for the 'Jacks, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one shutout inning, allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
Junior Jake Zarrello led the way offensively for the 'Jacks, going 1-for-1 in the ballgame with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Junior Thylar Summarell compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI. Senior Sean Moore also helped out, going 1-for-2 for SFA with a double and a walk.
GAME SUMMARY
The 'Jacks were trailing 8-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Moore came across to score the lone run of the inning for SFA and get them on the board.
The 'Jacks deficit grew to 9-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the sixth inning. SFA scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Skylar Black, which brought the score to 9-2 in favor of the Mavericks.
UT Arlington built their lead to 10-2 before the SFA offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 10-4 in the ninth. The 'Jacks scored twice on solo home runs from Summarell and Zarrello. The 'Jacks were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
