
Five Ladyjacks Garner Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete Honors

Seniors Courtney Brown and Lauren Becker join junior Jordan Llinas and recent graduates Taylor Fraccastoro and Amber Landry as SFA softball players who held GPA’s of 3.5 or higher in 2017-18
LOUISIVLLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recently released its Easton All-American Scholar-Athletes for the 2017-18 academic year and five Stephen F. Austin softball student-athletes earned a spot on the prestigious list. Seniors Courtney Brown and Lauren Becker, along with junior Jordan Llinas and recent graduates Taylor Fraccastoro and Amber Landry, were recognized for their academic prowess after achieving at least a 3.50 grade point average for the entirety of the school year.
For Becker and Landry, it is their second consecutive Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete honor.
Brown, who played in 40 games and made 30 starts primarily in the outfield this past spring, held a GPA of 3.81 as a food and nutrition dietetics major after transferring in from Pima Community College. Recently graduated catcher Fraccastoro was named to the All-Southland Conference Second Team and claimed a spot on the Southland All-Academic Second Team as the Ladyjacks' primary starter behind the plate. Majoring in kinesiology, she posted a 3.76 GPA while starting all 55 games and leading the team in slugging (.572) and doubles (14).
All-Southland First Team third baseman Landry, who is also a recent graduate, claimed a spot on the Southland All-Academic First Team with a 3.60 GPA as a kinesiology major. Starting every game this past season, Landry accounted for a team-best 48 RBI and posted a .320 batting average with nine homers. Right-handed pitcher Llinas achieved a 3.56 GPA this past academic year as a health science major, while making 13 appearances in the circle in 2018 and posting a 1-0 record with 21 strikeouts.
Becker, a finance major, notched a 3.50 GPA for the school year after playing in 38 games during the season and making 26 starts with 13 runs scored and 14 hits.
Brown, Fraccastoro, Landry, Llinas and Becker were all named to the Southland's 2018 spring Commissioner's Honor Roll.
As a team, SFA achieved a GPA of 3.22 for 2017-18.
The team rankings and national honors recognize the academic achievements of softball teams across the NFCA's membership categories, including NCAA Division I, II and III, in addition NAIA, two-year college and high school.
