
Hollas Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-America® Third Team

Sophomore is Ladyjacks' first CoSIDA Academic All-American since 2014
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin sophomore setter Ann Hollas became the first Ladyjack volleyball player in three years to earn College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® acclaim when, late Monday morning, the Longview, Texas, product was named as a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team choice.
One of 21 student-athletes from around the nation to earn either First, Second or Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, Hollas was one of just two underclassmen and the only Southland Conference representative to appear on the list. Of the 21 members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I volleyball team, 18 have at least a 3.90 GPA, with 14 student-athletes sporting a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Hollas currently maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in biology and becomes the first SFA volleyball player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America acclaim since Paige Holland collected Second-Team honors in the winter of 2014. She preceded her CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors by being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team in November of 2017.
Through the course of her second season in Ladyjack colors, Hollas once again set up shop as the squad's primary setter. The sophomore oversaw the most efficient offense in the Southland Conference as the Ladyjacks finished 2017 with a team hitting percentage of .253 which was the top figure in the 13-team league and the 37th best in the nation.
In all, Hollas dished out 955 assists - the sixth-highest total in the Southland Conference - which translated to an assists per set mark of 7.83 which was the 10th-best in the league. The sophomore also emerged as SFA's top threat at the service line by delivering a team-leading 39 aces. That service ace total was the fourth-highest among all Southland players while Hollas' aces per set average of 0.32 ranked seventh in the conference.
Defensively, Hollas dove for double-digit digs on 13 occasions which helped her finished the season with a team-leading 13 double-doubles. Overall, Hollas was one of five Ladyjack who averaged at least two digs per set and her average of 2.37 was the third-highest among all SFA players.
For SFA, 2017 was a banner year that saw the squad secure its ninth regular season Southland Conference crown. In all, the Ladyjacks posted a record of 26-8 and tallied the program's most wins in a season since 2007. SFA went 14-2 in Southland Conference play, earned the top overall seed in the Southland Conference Tournament and returned to postseason play for the first time since 2006 by securing a bid to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC).
