Complete All-Southland Conference Teams
FRISCO, Texas – After a successful season in the heart of the Ladyjack order, Stephen F. Austin juniors Brittany Lewis and Taylor LeFlore have been selected to the 2016 All-Southland Conference Softball Teams, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Lewis finds a place on the first team for the first time in her career as a first baseman. She was tabbed second team designated player as a sophomore in 2015. LeFlore cracks the postseason list for the first time on the third team at the third base position.
Lewis established herself as one of the premier hitters in the entire conference with a solid junior campaign for the Ladyjacks. In 26 league games, she led the SLC in batting average (.500), RBI (32), hits (38) and total bases (74) while ranking second in slugging (.974) and on-base percentage (.587) and third in home runs (9).
A native of Allen, Texas (Lovejoy HS), Lewis recorded two grand slams in league action and hit safely in 22 straight SLC contests from March 13 to May 1 as she paced SFA to a 13-13 conference record and the number five seed in the upcoming SLC Tournament. She put up impressive numbers in seemingly every series during the league slate and was recognized as SLC Hitter of the Week on April 4.
During her offensive tear through the 2016 season, Lewis broke her own single season RBI record for SFA with a whopping 52 RBI in 52 games overall. She shattered her own program mark with the total and now boasts 137 career RBI – also a school record.
LeFlore joined Lewis for a lethal one-two punch in the middle of the Ladyjack lineup throughout the year and was recognized for her strong play. Playing a pivotal role for SFA both offensively and defensively at the hot corner, LeFlore ended the season second on the team with a .292 batting average and 14th in the conference with 52 assists.
In 24 league games, LeFlore recorded five doubles and drove in 10 runs for the Ladyjacks. She started the SLC season red hot and tallied seven multi-hit games during the stretch to help get her team back to the postseason. LeFlore hails from Forney, Texas and played her prep ball at Forney High School.
Sophomore catcher Taylor Fraccastoro was also named Honorable Mention All-Southland Conference with the teams release on Monday. It is the second straight honor for the Orange native. In 26 conference games on the season, she hit .237 with 16 runs, five doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI. She was also a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base opportunities offensively.
The Ladyjacks will open the 2016 Southland Conference Tournament in Lake Charles, Louisiana this Wednesday afternoon against fourth-seeded Central Arkansas. The first game for SFA in the double elimination tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m.
