
SFA Announces 2014 Hall of Fame Class

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Three of the most feared Stephen F. Austin defensive football players from the 1990s and a key component of the Ladyjack basketball teams from that same era comprise the 2014 Stephen F. Austin Hall of Fame class.
Football players Terrance Shaw, Jeremiah Trotter and Cedric Walker and women’s basketball player Kristen Armour-Webb have been announced as the four members of the 2014 Hall of Fame class. The quartet will be inducted during the Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday, October 25th.
Shaw and Walker were teammates in the SFA defensive backfield for three seasons (1991-93) as opponents averaged just 160 passing yards per game during that span. Trotter then emerged as one of the top linebackers in the country from 1995-97 as opposing offenses managed just 18.6 points and 130.6 rushing yards per game during those three seasons.
Armour-Webb served as the point guard during on a handful of powerful Ladyjack teams that won three SLC titles from 1992-96. SFA also made four NCAA tournament appearances during her career, advancing to the Sweet 16 in 1993 and 1996.
KRISTEN ARMOUR-WEBB
Women’s Basketball • 1992-96
Kristen Armour-Webb is among the top defensive guards in SFA program history and was a key member of some of the greatest teams in Ladyjack history. The point guard helped orchestrate a dominance in Southland Conference play as well as deep NCAA tournament runs, shutting down opponents with her defensive play while distributing the ball to teammates at the other end.
Armour-Webb currently ranks among the SFA leaders in a handful of statistical categories, sitting sixth all-time in career steals (231), eighth in career assists (437) and 10th in both assists per game (3.6) and three-point attempts (301). She shares the SFA single-game record with seven three-pointers made while sitting second (10) and fourth (nine) among the single-game steal leaders.
With Armour-Webb running the point, SFA established itself as one of the top programs in the Southland Conference, winning three SLC titles with a combined record of 66-6 during that span. SFA advanced to the NCAA tournament all four years of Armour-Webb’s career, advancing to the Sweet 16 in both 1993 and 1996 while notching victories over Clemson (twice) and Oregon State.
TERRANCE SHAW
Football • 1991-94
Terrance Shaw was a four year starter at cornerback for SFA, appearing in 38 games with 37 starts for the Lumberjacks from 1991-94. During his four seasons in Nacogdoches, Shaw amassed 169 career tackles and 10 career interceptions, which is tied for 10th all-time in program history. He picked off six opponent passes as a senior in 1994, which is tied for the sixth-best single-season performance in SFA history.
Shaw earned a reputation as one of the top ball hawkers in the Southland Conference, ranking third all-time in Lumberjack history with 33 career pass breakups, highlighted by 12 his senior campaign. The Marshall native was a two-time All-Southland Conference honoree, earning first team honors as a senior as the SFA defensive unit allowed just 18 points and 91.4 rushing yards per game.
Shaw went on to play 10 seasons in the National Football League, tallying 400 tackles and 11 interceptions with five different teams. He spent five seasons with San Diego, starting 67 of his 69 games in a Charger uniform before earning a Super Bowl title with the New England Patriots in 2001. Shaw also spent time with Miami, Oakland and Minnesota.
JEREMIAH TROTTER
Football • 1995-97
Jeremiah Trotter remains one of the most revered defenders in SFA program history, starting 31 of his 32 games at linebacker for the Lumberjacks from 1995-97. Trotter finished with 300 career tackles, ranking 10th all-time in program history, including 183 solo tackles (seventh all-time), with 8.5 sacks and 25 tackles for loss.
Trotter burst onto the scene as a sophomore in 1995, amassing 133 total tackles (the ninth-best performance in program history) and was a two-time first team All-Southland Conference selection. A two-time Buck Buchanan Award candidate, the Hooks native would earn five first team All-America honors, being named a first team honoree by the American Football Coaches Association in both 1996 and 1997.
A third round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1998, Trotter would play 11 seasons in the NFL, finishing his career with 722 tackles and nine interceptions in 147 career games. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and amassed 564 tackles in eight seasons in Philadelphia, ranking eighth all-time among the Eagles’ all-time leading tacklers. Trotter had three stints in the city of Brotherly Love, sandwiched by two seasons with divisional rival Washington and one year in Tampa Bay.
CEDRIC WALKER
Football • 1990-93
Cedric Walker holds a distinctive honor among SFA football as he is one of just three Lumberjacks to be a four-time first team All-Conference selection. Walker started 43 of his 45 games in a Lumberjack uniform from 1990-93, tallying 291 career tackles, including 215 solo stops, which ranks fourth all-time in program history. He helped anchor the SFA defensive unit which allowed just 115.1 passing yards per game in 1991.
Walker’s talents in the backfield were unmatched as he remains the Lumberjacks’ all-time program leader in career pass breakups (34) and career interceptions (25) while setting the single-season interception mark with 10 in 1990. The Lufkin native was named a first team All-American in 1993 by both the American Football Coaches Association and the Associated Press.
Walker established himself as one of the top defensive players during a 10-year career in the Arena Football League, winning an ArenaBowl championship with the Arizona Rattlers in 1997. He finished his career seventh all-time in AFL history with 614 tackles and is entering his third season as the defensive coordinator of the San Jose SabreCats.
