NACOGDOCHES, Texas - On the heels of a 9-3 road win at Louisiana Tech, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team will take part in their final conference road series of the season beginning Friday against the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions.
Despite missing a chance to play in the Southland Conference Tournament, the Ladyjacks (14-30, 4-12) are hoping to close the season with some momentum over their final five remaining games. SFA has gone 5-5 over their last 10 contests and 3-2 in their last five road games.
SFA matched a season-high with nine runs in their win over the Lady Techsters on Wednesday in which three different Ladyjacks had two hits and two RBI's apiece.
Southeastern Louisiana (11-32, 3-13) just split a doubleheader against Northwestern State on Tuesday, winning the nightcap 10-2 following a 4-3 loss in game one. The Lady Lions have struggled to score runs (134) and have a run differential of -111. Megan McCollum leads SLU with a .325 batting average while Ariell Van Hook is the team leader in home runs (4).
The Lady Lion pitching staff has a combined ERA of 4.70 and are led in wins by Vicki Honeycutt (4).
This weekend's series will get underway on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a 12 p.m. start on Saturday. From there the Ladyjacks will travel to North Texas on May 2 before returning home May 4-5 for a season-ending series against UTSA.
