
Ladyjacks Travel To No. 15 Baylor Tuesday

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks softball team will hit the diamond once again on Tuesday when they travel to Waco for a doubleheader against No. 15 Baylor at Getterman Stadium starting at 3 p.m.
SFA (7-17, 0-2) is coming off a tough opening weekend in Southland Conference playing, getting no-hit twice in back-to-back losses at Texas State. Both Chandler Hall and Anne Marie Taylor held the Ladyjacks without a hit for 14 consecutive innings in 4-0 and 1-0 losses, respectively.
The Ladyjacks are hitting just .200 as a team on the season and have been outscored 144-72 thus far. Sophomore first baseman Elizabeth Arana has been a bright spot offensively for SFA. Arana leads the team in batting average (.339), hits (21), doubles (7), homeruns (3), RBI (14) and slugging% (.597).
Baylor comes into Tuesday's twin bill with a 21-6 record overall and staggering 17-3 mark at home. As a team Baylor is hitting .281, led by junior outfielder Kathy Shelton (.421, 32 hits, 11 RBI). As a pitching staff the Bears have combined for a 1.05 ERA and surrendered 27 earned runs in 180 innings of work. Junior Courtney Repka has started 9-2 with a 0.91 ERA while junior Whitney Canion has an incredible 0.35 ERA in 40 innings, striking out a team-best 66 with a 5-1 mark.
Following Tuesday's doubleheader, SFA will be back in action on Wednesday, when the Ladyjacks host ULM in what is scheduled to be just the second home game this season. That contest is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
