Covington Named Pitcher Of The Week

FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin's Monika Covington has been named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week, according to a Monday announcement by league officials. The honor is the second of the season for Covington and the third of the year for Ladyjack pitchers.
Covington went 3-0 last week with wins in both starts against Southeastern Louisiana and a mid-week relief victory against Centenary. She pitched the last four innings without allowing a run against the Ladies, helping her team to a 4-3, nine-inning victory. Covington then held Southeastern Louisiana to one run in each of her starts in SFA's weekend series against the Lions.
She posted a 1.00 ERA and recorded 14 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched. Covington has an 11-7 record on the year and a 2.25 ERA for the season.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action Wednesday, when they open an eight-game road trip with a non-conference doubleheader at Louisiana-Monroe. First pitch against the Warhawks is set for 4 p.m.
