Carr's 22 Points Not Enough

RUSTON, La. - Nikki Carr scored 21 points in the second half, but Louisiana Tech had too much firepower in winning its home opener 82-60 at Thomas Assembly Center.
Carr only attempted two shots in the first half for SFA (1-5) with one point, but took over on the offensive end in the second half shooting 9-of-11 from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
The Ladyjacks had an early 11-8 lead in the first half before a 16-2 run gave them some breathing room 24-15 at the 8:55 mark of the half. SFA would continue to stay within arm's reach, before JoKierra Sneed knocked in four of her 15 first-half points to push the lead to 13 with just under two minutes to go before the Lady Techsters (3-2) took a 38-23 lead into the locker room.
However, Carr came out to hit her first three-point try of the second half to set the tone for her final 20 minutes. The senior scored 11 of the Ladyjacks first 21 points of the half as SFA climbed back into things, 49-44, with 10:45 to go on the game, but that was when Tiwana Pringle would catch fire for Louisiana Tech. Pringle would ignite the Lady Techsters with four three-point buckets in just under five minutes as Louisiana Tech would use a 21-5 run in that span to stretch its lead to 71-49 with 5:57 to go.
The Ladyjacks would trade buckets with Louisiana Tech the rest of the way, as the Lady Techsters held on for the 82-60 win. Pringle led four Lady Techsters in double-figures with 20 points, including 6-of-9 three-point shooting after only having four three-point buckets in her career entering the game.
For SFA, Carr would finish with a game-high 22 points along with seven rebounds and six steals - just one off of her career high. Antoinette Davis would add 10 points while Jordan Ford and Decreasha Goodner both chipped in eight points apiece.
SFA shot 48 percent in the second half as a team, compared to only 26 percent in the first half; however, Louisiana Tech finished at a 45 percent clip for the game, including eight of 16 from beyond the arc.
