
Ladyjacks Host Tulsa

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team won its second consecutive game by defeating Centenary, 85-48, Saturday night in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks will look for their first three-game win streak of the season when it hosts Tulsa (3-4) Tuesday night. The Golden Hurricane comes to Nacogdoches looking to end a two-game skid. SFA closes out the three-game homestand Thursday when it hosts North Texas (2-4). The Mean Green will look to get back on the winning track after dropping a 34-point decision to UTEP. Both games will tip off at 7 p.m. from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
SFA vs. the Golden Hurricane: The Ladyjacks are 2-2 (.500) all-time against Tulsa. The series dates back to the 1982-83 season when SFA recorded a 108-64 victory over the Golden Hurricane. The two schools have played each of the past three seasons, with each team winning on its home court. The Ladyjacks recorded a 68-61 victory against Tulsa in Nacogdoches during the 2004-05 season, but dropped a 73-66 decision in Tulsa last season.
Home Sweet Home: The Ladyjacks are one of the nation's all-time winningest teams at home, with a 347-86 (.801) all-time record. The Ladyjacks have won 24 of their last 29 games at home and were a perfect 14-0 at home last season. The Ladyjacks are 2-1 (.667) at home this season.
Speed Limit 85: The Ladyjack offense exploded for 85 points against Centenary. It's the most points SFA has scored since recording 88 versus McNeese State last season.
Dominant Bench: The Ladyjacks utilized a dominant bench in the victory against Centenary. In fact, the Ladyjacks' bench outscored Centenary. SFA surrendered only 48 points to Centenary Saturday night, while the SFA reserves scored 50 points led by 11 from senior Jennifer Simpson and sophomore Jessica Gaines.
Up Next ... The Ladyjacks open a six-game road swing beginning Saturday, Dec. 16 at Alcorn State. SFA will return to the court Tuesday, Dec. 19 when they travel to Little Rock, Ark., to face UALR. The Ladyjacks will travel to Hot Springs, Ark., the following day to take on Arkansas. All three games are slated to begin at 7 p.m.
