UTSA Defeats Ladyjacks

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team lost to Texas-San Antonio, 56-44, Tuesday night in the Convocation Center. The Ladyjacks dropped to 12-14 (.462) on the season and 6-9 (.400) in Southland Conference play.
After starting the game 0-for-10 from the floor, the Ladyjacks rallied to pull within 13 points at halftime, 28-15. SFA held the momentum in the second half as the Ladyjacks cut the deficit down to five points, 49-44, behind senior Alex Bowman's team-high 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals. But the Ladyjacks ended the game in similar fashion to how it started, being held scoreless over the final 5:49 as the Roadrunners went on a 7-0 run to close out the game.
The Ladyjacks were held to a 17-of-52 (.327) shooting performance, while UTSA went 20-of-53 (.377) led by freshman Richelle Parks' 23 points and nine rebounds. The Ladyjacks were also out rebounded, 40-37, in the contest.
Junior Britany Vinson added 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while senior Stacey Szymanski added six points and five rebounds.
The Ladyjacks close out the regular season Friday against Louisiana-Monroe. The game against the Lady Indians is slated to begin at 6 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
