
Ladyjack Volleyball Dominates Conference Honors

PLANO, Texas - After posting the first undefeated Southland Conference season (19-0) since 2000, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks dominated the SLC awards taking four of the six individual awards and adding one more to the all-conference teams, announced league officials Wednesday afternoon. For the second straight year, the Ladyjacks took freshman, libero, and player of the year honors while taking setter of the year as well.
Junior Laura Cramer was named player of the year after leading the Ladyjacks and ranking among the league leaders in kills per game with 4.12. She also had 3.28 digs per game, recording 18 double-doubles. Cramer, the 6-0 outside hitter from Abilene, Texas, was also named the Aeropostale SLC Offensive Player of the Week four times this season. This is the fourth overall and the second straight year SFA has been awarded Player of the Year. Former teammate, Brittany Burton, won the award last season.
McKinney, Texas native, Lauren Railey earned the freshman of the year honor after helping the Ladyjacks post a 27-2 overall record. Her 3.44 kills per game landed her second on the Ladyjack squad and in the SLC's top 10. She also put up 3.16 digs per game. Railey's rookie of the year honor is the fifth overall in SFA history and the second straight after JJ Jones took the honor last year.
Jones received her second consecutive conference honor as she was named setter of the year. She posted a league-best 1,293 assists this season. Her season total is the eighth best at SFA with her 12.55 assists per game is third best. The 5-10 Allen, Texas native, was recently named CVU.com's National Player of the Week after posting a triple-double in the season finale at McNeese State with 10 kills, 13 digs and 55 assists. It was the first triple-double at SFA in two seasons and only the third in the conference in 2005.
After leading the league with 584 digs, 105 more than second place, Figgers took the libero of the year award for the second straight year. The award has been in existence for only seasons. Figgers was named player of the week eight of 12 weeks and swept the voting with teammate, Cramer, three times.
Cramer, Figgers, and Jones were also named first-team all-conference. Railey and sophomore Traci Rohde were given third-team honors. Rohde, a 6-2 middle blocker from Norman, Okla., recorded 3.16 kills per game and put up a team-leading 1.16 blocks per game, the sixth best at SFA.
After clinching the No. 1 seed in the SLC Championship Tournament, the Ladyjacks will face No. 8 Lamar at 7:30 p.m. at Texas Hall in Arlington.
