Mackenzie Bennett is no stranger to the SFA Softball Program after having spent the last five seasons as a mainstay on the Lumberjack Softball Team. Over the course of five seasons spent at SFA with one season being the COVID shortened season, Bennett started in 136 games for the ‘Jacks while mashing 25 homers and driving in 101 RBIs over five seasons. Over her career at SFA, Bennett slashed .330/.387/.591 while tacking on 31 doubles, two triples, and drawing 24 walks in addition to her homers and RBIs.
Mackenzie’s junior season saw her collect a .330 average while hitting 11 doubles, eight home runs and knocking in 29 runners. However, Bennett took it one step farther in her senior season at SFA that saw Bennett hit for a .367 average while crushing 14 doubles, 12 home runs, and driving in 49 runners while drawing a start in all 54 games the Lumberjacks played. Her .367 average, 14 doubles, and 49 RBIs were all good for most on the team last season while her 12 home runs ranked her second on the team.
Prior to playing at SFA, Mackenzie was a four-year letter winner at Santana High School located in Santee California. While at Santana High School, Bennett was a three-time team MVP, two-time offensive MVP and two-time offensive player of the year while also being named defensive player of the year as a freshman in 2015. Her junior year of high school saw Mackenzie claim all-state honors while being named player of the month for May, and leading Santana to a San Diego Section Division II title in 2017. Over her high school career, Bennett slashed .472/.534/.826 while also playing club ball for The Next Level where her club team claimed third place at Premier Girls Fastpitch back-to-back years
