Bo Martino
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Returning to Nacogdoches for the 2019 season following a two-year stint as the pitching coach at NCAA Division II institution Cedarville University, Bo Martino will serve as SFA's volunteer assistant coach.
Through his two seasons on the Yellow Jackets' staff, Martino helped Cedarville advance to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament in 2017. At the conclusion of the 2018 campaign, one of Martino's pitchers - senior Josh Kneeland - secured All-GMAC Honorable Mention accolades after leading the team with 78 strikeouts through 38 games.
Before moving to Ohio to join up with the Yellow Jackets, Martino spent the fall of 2016 at Northeast Texas Community College. For the 2015 season, Martino was installed as the pitching coach at NCAA Division III institution LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Under Martino's watch, the YellowJackets amassed 219 strikeouts through 296 innings. That season, LeTourneau made the cut for the American Southwest Conference Tournament.
His year in Longview was preceded by a two-year stint as the 'Jacks' volunteer assistant coach in charge of pitching. Martino was instrumental in the development of SFA's Cameron Gann who was a 27th-round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2015 MLB Draft. Gann currently ranks second in program history in wins and third in both innings pitched and strikeouts. Martino was also on staff at East Texas Baptist University and in the high school ranks before coming to SFA.
Hailing from Marshall, Texas, Martino earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from East Texas Baptist University where he was a four-year baseball letterwinner for the Tigers. During his junior season, he helped the squad reach the American Southwest Conference Tournament. Martino went on to collect his master's degree in human performance from SFA during his first stint on the 'Jacks' coaching staff.
Martino and his wife, Natalie, reside in Nacogdoches with their son, Bauer.
