Head Coach Debbie Humphreys Signs Three-Year Contract Extension

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin athletic department announced the extension of Head Volleyball Coach, Debbie Humphreys' contract, Thursday morning.
"Coach Humphreys is the standard for excellence at Stephen F. Austin State University." said Director of Athletics Michael McBroom "What she has built with our volleyball program reflects her leadership, consistency, and deep commitment to developing young women the right way. Her success speaks for itself, but what makes her truly special is the culture she sustains every day. I am proud to extend Coach Humphreys with this new three-year contract and excited about the continued success of Ladyjack Volleyball under her leadership."
The architect of SFA Volleyball's championship culture signed a three-year extension through the 2029 season. Coach Humphreys has amassed an 869-384 overall record in her 38-year career, 13 Southland Conference Regular Season Championships, seven Southland Conference Tournament Championships, 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, five NIVC appearances, 28 seasons with at least 20 wins, and 55 First-Team All-Conference Selections. She has the second-most wins among active Division I coaches, behind only Chris Poole, and is ranked 14th in all-time Division I wins.
"I am extremely blessed to serve as the head volleyball coach at Stephen F. Austin State University." said Coach Humphreys "I have been fortunate over the years to work with some great assistant coaches and coach many amazing student athletes. Many thanks to Michael McBroom and Dr. Weaver for the support they have given me and the entire volleyball program. Also, thanks to Jack Nation for their role in making Shelton Gym a top-notch venue for NCAA Division I volleyball. I look forward to continuing my career at SFA, as we strive for new heights with our program."
Last season, she led the Ladyjacks to a 23-8 overall record and a 15-1 conference record. SFA won the SLC regular season and the tournament titles as they punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the past four seasons. Coach Humphreys had two players named to All-Southland First Team while four earned CSC All-District Team and five earned SLC All-Academic Team.
