
Ladyjacks Win Duel Against Texans

NACOGDOCHES, Texas- The Stephen F. Austin volleyball program began a three-game homestand against the Tarleton Texans.
With the score tied 4-4, the Ladyjacks went on a 7-0 run thanks to kills from Kyanna Creecy, Katherine Holtman, Camryn Hill, and Ilana de Assis, 11-4. Later in the set, SFA extended their lead to double digits after a four-point spurt, 20-10. From there the 'Jacks cruised to a 25-16 first set victory.
The beginning of the second set was tightly contested as neither team held more than a three-point lead until Tarleton rattled off six straight points, 18-10. SFA fought back with a 9-0 run to tie the set at 20. The 'Jacks won five of the last seven points and won the second set off a kill from Creecy, 25-22.
Set three was similar to set two as neither team held a commanding lead until the Ladyjacks went on a 4-1 run to take a 17-12 lead. A four-point spurt cut the deficit down to one, 19-18. Both teams traded blows until the set was tied at 24 and set to go to extras. Back-to-back attack errors from the Texans secured a 26-24 third set win for a Ladyjack sweep.
POSTGAME NOTES
• SFA takes a 6-1 series lead over Tarleton and remains a perfect 5-0 at home and 3-0 in three set matches against the Texans.
• SFA led Tarleton in several stat categories; points (58-46), kills (46-40), aces (7-2), blocks (5-4), assists (42-37), and hitting percentage (.358-.192).
• Katherine Holtman led the offense with 10 kills and hit .526 followed by Molly Cravens who recorded nine kills and hit .500.
• Jayden Flynn ran the offense with 18 assists followed by Zoe Gun who recorded a new season high of 16 assists.
• Kyanna Creecy led the SFA block with three while Caroline Kahle led the back line with eight digs.
• SFA Volleyball is 4-0 on September 16 matches the past four seasons (aka SFA Director of Creative Video Sarah Williams' birthday)
